how could you get a score of 9962.. I did one of the previous days again, already knowing the answers and I only got 9928. I guess maybe on smartphone it is faster than using a touchpad on a laptop.
But still you need to read the question as well as the answers..
I think it's possible, even on the slower laptop touch pad I was also on track for a first time score of around 9928 until I panicked on the U boat question, and I felt like I dithered on quite a few of the answers. So out of everyone who does the quiz, I don't think it's inconceivable with fast reflexes and a bit of luck that for at least one person the questions will fall perfectly for them and their eye will immediately catch the position of the answer. Because you don't need to read all of the answers, you only need to notice the correct one.
Sometimes when i'm taking multiple choices quizzes, my brain will just read a similar answer to the answer i know is correct and then instantly choose that one. Example: when there is a question "What is Asgabat the Capital of?" and the Answers are Uganda, Uzbekistan, Japan, Turkmenistan, my Brain will sometimes notice just Turkmenistan and think "well thats close enough" and click Turkmenistan
I don't know. I'm struggling to figure out if the leaderboard is worth keeping. I've already banned a couple dozen obvious cheaters. (You're not as clever as you think). But some of the top scores do seem quite unbelievable.
I hope you keep it, even if the top few are dubious each day. It's really fun to see where you ranked relative to other users. Maybe make it longer if that's feasible, just so more people get to see where they placed, beyond the high flyers.
Yeh I agree. I think it's nice to see if you can make it on even if you're competing with a handful of fake results, but it's not like succeeding in that is so important that I'd be upset on missing out on a place. It's almost funny that someone would put in the effort to cheat rather than just take the quiz.
I finished 20th on the second day but hopefully my other scores show that was a fluke!
A system I've seen elsewhere to help prevent cheating is to not reveal the answers until the day after, that way people can't just memorise the correct answers on one browser and then play again (it also doesn't give a break between questions to stop people googling after every question). Suppose it depends how seriously people take the leaderboard.
Even if you didn't give a break, alt accounts can take all the time they need (although depends on how good QM's tools are for alts/maybe how dedicated someone is to having convincing alts)
Also, if you can reset across browsers then how is it stopping you from googling on the first browser anyway? You don't care about the points until the real attempt surely?
Also a good idea, (the not revealing until the next day I mean. The break is a nice thing to have so you can try to be fast but can still be relaxed, so I would definitely keep that)
Edit but good point about the googling, though for some that might be too much effort. (and risk not looking something up correctly and still get it wrong on their main account without be able to undo/redo it). So I think it would still deter a lot of people.
I think cheaters can be divided into two groups, those that want an easy win. And those that go to any length to win. (I think the first percentage is probably higher)
I'm going back and completing daily quizzes I missed and I've just got a score of 9,842 on this one at the first attempt.
A high score, but its luck of the drawer that I knew all the answers and with minimal thinking time required. I must have completed 180 of these daily quizzes and it's only the second time I've got 10/10.
My score could have been better, but I kept trying to type the letter of the answer on the first question. Can you note in the instructions that you need to CLICK on the right answer?
number 1!! watch me fall off the leaderboard today....
good catch though QM
I hereby swear to never cheat the DTC again
