Would you also say that it's weird that München is called Munich in English? Many cities are called differently in different languages. Nothing weird about it.
I would say Hameln is weird because its a rather small city. Why would Landshut, for example, need a different name in english? Or Porta Westfalica, Saarlouis, Landshut, Greifswald, Villingen-Schwenningen? And i wouldnt say "many" cities are called different in different languages
I don't think it's the size of the city that matters but what reputation it has. Hameln is well known for the legend of the pied piper, and not just in Germany, so it makes sense for other countries to give it a name that suits their respective languages .
6/10 today, was tough. I actually got the actor real name one because I knew Charlie Sheen was Emilio Estevez's brother and was originally Carlos Estevez but switched to Charlie Sheen like his father switched to Martin Sheen, I knew Marilyn was Norma Jean or something, and I figured Whoopi Goldberg could be a stage name, James Dean seemed like the most real one because I feel like not only was his career very short but if he did go by something other than his real name it would probably be a more well known fact
6/10.. again XD
edit: wait, the city is actually called hamelin in english? thats weird
Nice set of questions though :)
