9/10 this time, getting back up there, had a couple of lucky guesses, especially with the last question, but it was the Wilt Chamberlain one that got me, didn't have a clue haha

Ohhhh noo that was going to be my 10! Unfortunately I never heard of Charlemagne's father

I guessed and got lucky! But same, never heard of him.

Now I have to go learn some history.

Also guessed on Wilt Chamberlain, but that was a more informed guess. :)

Same! I didn't have clue on the Wilt Chamberlin one though.

Got 7/10 not too shabby :)

if legend of 10K is true, perhaps Wilt was Charlemagne's father?

I completely guessed and managed to get it right, but I was thinking about Neville Chamberlain. I did think it was weird that he was just posing with a piece of paper.

I've never heard of Wilt Chamberlain. So I guessed, and got it wrong...

Why are the questions suddenly 'know it or get it wrong' once again?
+8
Level 83

Isn’t that kinda the point of trivia?

I think you should be able to reason things out a bit

Perhaps it's just me

Have you submitted any questions?

I think I've submitted 10-20, and it feels like I've had maybe 10-20% acceptance. I haven't noticed much of a pattern with what QM is looking for yet. Some of the stuff which I find really interesting & refreshing gets rejected.

I'm enjoying DTC overall. If I could change something it'd be even more data, and somehow excluding cheaters from data. Maybe more history, and STEM subjects.

I guess I can see some "know it or don't" recently; seems like a lot of celebrity/famous people fall into that category for me.

I have submitted around three questions, none of them accepted. I love this challenge, starts my brain up in the morning, however specific questions on relatively obscure information are frustrating to guess.

I agree Maxibon, trivia should be about trivial things and not esoteric
+1
Level 66
Aug 28, 2024
The definition of trivial is "of little value or importance", it has nothing to do with how well known something is.

Wow, that felt fairly easy but I kinda Slumdog Millionaired the hardest questions. I went to Drumheller museum as a child and learned about a T-Rex being found in Alberta. I did a research essay on tall Charlemagne decades ago, but remembered how Pepin was petit. Teaching Comp Civ means I absolutely know what an atlatl is, and have even used one (I suck). And one of my coworkers is obsessed with basketball and we chat about how Chamberlain was very good in a pretty unathletic era of basketball. I don’t have a good excuse for why I lost 50 points thinking about Overtired’s questions, though!

It being overtired's question justifies the time taken to double-check your answer :)

Ha, nice Slumdog tale :)

What's Comp Civ? Sounds like playing competitive Civilization (the computer game).

Comparative Civilizations. It does get competitive when we do simulations though!

T-Rex also lived in Asia

From what I’m reading the specific T. rex species was only in NA, but other Tyrannosaurs were in Asia.

1 silly mistake and 2 I had no idea at all and were complete (and incorrect) guesses. Learning opportunity!

Same for me! I misread "though" as "trough", which was my silly mistake

A shocking number of people thought Wilt Chamberlain was celebrating Pi Day in March.......

I mean, I didn't have any idea who that guy was. Googled after the question, he does not seem very relevant. I'm forgetting him already

Level 81

For people who care about basketball and its history he is very much relevant

Wilt Chamberlain 20,000 LOL

Level 68
Aug 28, 2024
That was the only number I've heard associated with him x.x He was born in 1936, so It would have been quite a stat at March 1962

i guessed on the wilt chamberlain one (i got it right), but after reading the comments i remembered he played basketball and still holds the record for the most points in a single game.

I think most of the world have never heard of him - I certainly haven't, and from the comments it seems most non-US people will be the same.

One day I should try and learn about American sports if I want to do well here!

Only Americans will have heard of him, and judging by the year given in the question, probably only Americans over 60.

I managed to somehow get a 2.... that's my worst score but at least I know that it was by guessing every question.
