Luxottica owns Ray-Ban, so it should be correct to say Luxottica is the company that makes Wayfarer glasses.

At one time, Ray Bans were not luxury sunglasses. I used to get them and have the optician put regular eyeglass lenses in them. They were inexpensive, made in Italy, durable, comfortable. One time my face took a soccer kick, another time a volleyball spike, both while I was wearing Ray Bans; neither incident caused any damage to the frame or lenses, although considerable damage to my brain, no doubt. Now they are made in China, less durable, and way more expensive than they used to be.
