Really? I thought the first 5 were harder. Maybe that was just me. I'm too young to remember 1989 pop culture events, but I know the historical events well enough.

8/10, probably should have figured the Tiananmen Square one from the date and theme, my bad 😅 Didn't have a clue on the high-definition broadcast one. And Simpsons was a bit of a lucky guess too tbf

I ought to have realised that the Simpsons was 1980s but hey. It was either going to be USSR or China where the statue was built, but I guessed wrong. And I thought 'Gulf of Mexico' for the oil spill but turns out it was Alaska.

You all have done such a wonderful job at daily trivia for a good amount of time, be wary with the themes on a long term, it isn’t necessary, and much less inherently fun and entertaining for the end user. Respect.

9/10, just missed oil spill. Again just like with beetles from yesterday, it took me more than halfway to realize everything was about 1989. I do like some of these themes though

I think the themes are fun, but this one felt a bit too oddly specific. And as a result, it lent itself to oddly specific questions. Even if the category was, say, the '80s, it would have been better.

Brings me back--playing my Gameboy, going to see Honey I Shrunk the Kids in my Bart Simpson t-shirt. I even made a diorama of the Exxon Valdez spill for school. Good times.

Got 9, missed the Simpsons, doh! Don’t mind having themes for these. Kind of adds another level of “knowledge trivia” to the rest of the trivia. Keep it going!

No. Some will be, some won't. But even with themes I try to mix up the questions to have variety.

I think the themes are fun.

Most whining seems to be from people who get a bad score (which happens naturally from time to time) and then they blame it on the theme.
