Ooof so close there. Educated guess on the Rubik's Cube. It was that or goulash and I thought (correctly) that goulash should be much older than only the 1970s. Sadly it was my belief that the Incans could write that fell me today. Must have been thinking of the Mayans.
Nooooooooo!!! I missed an MF Doom question. He had a couple places on my Spotify wrapped. And of course the concept of “fire vocal” goes with a volcano. I almost cracked 8900 so at least my time was pretty good!
from my understanding - south africa merged from four colonies and in order to prevent some region or city from overtaking the power. Every city has its own function. Pretoria is administrative capital, Cape town is legislative capital and Bloemfontein is judicial capital.
Mostly right, there were two British colonies (Natal and the Cape Colony) and the two Boer republics (Orange Free State, and Transvaal). When the union of South Africa was formed in 1910 one of the appeasement strategies the British employed was to allow the Boer republics to keep both of the capitals of the two republics, Bloemfontein and Pretoria and the British only kept the capital of Cape Town. Durban, the capital of the Natal colony was dropped.
So annoying, I got 9/10 but the one I got wrong, I rushed and shouldn't have. It was the Rubik's Cube one, which I knew was invented by Erno Rubik, a Hungarian, at roughly that time (1974). But I rushed, wanting to get over 9900, and just saw "invented in Hungary" and "goulash" and clicked. Obviously goulash is way older than that.
9/10
No guesses today but a touch of hesitation on the Soviet and written language questions.
I thought it was "what is the closest letter in this sentence"?
Almost had it but the patterns got me again. I'm terrible at those
Mostly guesswork for me.
