Another 9/10, been a while since my last 100% now. Kicking myself because I knew the answer for you've got mail but I was looking for "AOL", stupid me didn't even think about what it stood for. Then again, I got lucky on the Tom Hanks question so I can't complain too much haha
Exactly the same thing I did 😂 I just didn't think about a two-word name matching a three-word acronym, but I realised the mistake immediately afterwards
Yes I too was looking for AOL, thanks for explaining that's what America Online stands for. Luckily I did pick it anyway because I knew it had to be an internet company, so "online" fit.
Aaaah!!!! The miracle run! Woo! Best ever! 9912! Having multiple Tom Hanks quizzes helped a lot with the theme. Also noticing the Hanks connection gave me 100% confidence on Philadelphia. 😄
It is--or, more accurately, was--America Online, with no "n."
Some of us remember when AOL was in its glory, treating its merger partners like poor relatives at the press conference held to announce the merger that created AOL Time Warner. That didn't last long--the merger has been described as "the biggest train wreck in the history of corporate America"--and Steve Case, AOL's CEO, soon found himself on the outside looking in. He's still around, offering opinions that no one really cares about, but AOL is now in the same category as Sears Roebuck and TWA, former giants that are no more.
I got 8/10, but I’ve seen other comments saying there was a theme, and I can’t see one. Could somebody please help a dude out and explain? If so, thanks!
What fun and easy questions, giving me 10/10 and my fourth best score, which is a relief after yesterday's debacle. You know, life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you're going to get!
moment of silence taken....I am duly rewarded for avidly following Tom Hanks every since Bosum Buddies....
10/10 correct, 9,867 score, 8th best....bodes well for the day. Although I think it is sad that so many folks don't know D-Day - and obviously don't remember the days of dial-up AOL. And actually, I know at least two people who still use aol.com
10/10 with 9904 points. Lost some points on the AOL question - first for not finding "AOL" and second for not finding "America Online" without the -n. Clever theme and a good fun nonetheless.
And Tom Hanks eventually married Wilson? That's hilarious! WIIILLLLLSSOOOOONNN!

Includes a couple lucky guesses.
I was about to conclude there was no common theme
