A guy wrote a book about Australia called The Lucky Country. Like most people here, however, I immediately clicked Ireland because of the luck of the Irish. 😂

It was meant to be a criticism as well, the quote from the book is "Australia is a lucky country run mainly by second rate people who share its luck."

The author wasn't too happy that many Australians mistook it as a compliment, once saying "I have had to sit through the most appalling rubbish as successive generations misapplied this phrase".

This is a great fact. As someone who was born and raised in Australia and is thankful I no longer live there, I look forward to trotting this out the next time it comes up.

The Lucky Country by Donald Horne, 1964. He argued that Australia thrived despite poor management. Struck a chord. And the animals are no problem.

i think that Switzerland is considered as a happy country because is also peaceful due to something,but happy and peaceful isn't same so this makes no sense.

The Cooler sure was a movie. I remember William H. Macy in a dingy hotel room/apartment, and being just generally sad and lonely. I cannot remember much else, aside from him being bad luck for the casino patrons. 🤔

8/10 for me today, I didn't know the William H Macy movie, and I knew the Chinese unlucky number was either 4 or 8 but I guessed wrong. You could say I wasn't lucky today 😅

8/10. Like a lot of people said Ireland. And, on the latin one, I used process of elimination, but apparently incorrectly. Fortis means strong, Sanctus sounded like healthy, and I thought Felix was happy. Didn't know what lex was, so chose that.

LOL I picked the right answer most of the time, and in two cases picked the very popular wrong answer. On just one question I picked an unpopular wrong answer--the MUSIC question. I'm CLUELESS about any music after 1996!
