The Very Hungry Catterpillar is the only one that I think has a presence outside the US. Though I know Goodnight Moon because it was used as a NYT Strands theme, which puzzled everyone outside the US at the time.
It was a series of paintings that took a publicity still of Elvis and doubled him many times. There were 22 Double Elvises. 8 Elvises was part of a giant wall display with many Elvises. In 2008, it sold for… $100 million!?
45% of people thinking the US Civil War is the bloodiest in history (as of time of posting this comment) is wild lol. I realize it was a big deal *for the US* at the time, but China has had numerous internal conflicts where millions were killed, all throughout its history. No chance of anyone beating the “champs” on that front.
I would be willing to bet that most people don't think the US Civil War was the bloodiest in history, but instead end up choosing it by eliminating the other options that aren't in the mid-19th century. That seems the quickest way to eliminate the options if you aren't 100% sure which was the bloodiest and the first Chinese Civil War people think of is obviously 1927-1949. With how the question is designed, the US Civil War jumps out as potentially the only 19th century one - tricky!
I think it could be because we are taught about the bloodiest battle in the U.S. Civil War like it was the biggest event in history, and most people don't pay attention in class. Combining those conditions means that some people just assume that the U.S. Civil War was the deadliest, especially if they haven't learned about any other civil wars.
I’m 52 and was pretty good in history but until today I had no idea that China had a major Civil War prior to the one in the 1940s. I’m gonna have to reeducate myself I reckon
The Taiping Rebellion is absolutely fascinating. It was led by a man named Hong Xiuquan, who believed himself to be the younger half-brother of Jesus Christ (on their father's side, obviously).
Is the story "Goodnight Moon" ironically titled? Seems totally illogical, as night-time is when the moon is usually "up" and "working" or at least mostly visible.
Me too 8/10....all was looking good but I really should have gotten the civil war question since I studied Chinese history quite a bit in college and wrote on the economics of Mao's long march and guerilla warfare forgot the Qing dynasty....missed the Terminator one but don't really follow that genre

If you need to remember the camels: Dromedary = one hump because the letter D only has one "hump". Bactrian = two humps because the letter B has two "humps"! I'm pretty sure I learned that on here honestly.
I've been finding the last few quizzes tougher. One or two easy questions for me, a couple of educated guesses and then several 'I have no idea'. 6/10 today.
