Flo-Jo's athletic accomplishments made her a minor celebrity back in the day, plus the tragedy of her death at such a young age kept her famous a bit longer. I'd expect kids today wouldn't have heard of her, though.
I think the real challenge for the Gen Alphas would be the CC question - how many of the younger gen have ever used carbon paper - or even heard of it??
Killing myself for not getting Zagreb, I was talking about it just yesterday. Went for obvious Hawaii, didn't know Carthage, and was thinking East Timor, so missed that as well.
10/10, almost fell for the Hawaii trap on question 1, and educated guess on the final question, went for the most familiar name. 9,927, that'll do nicely 😁
5/10 That is what I get for being so proud of my 10/10 yesterday, I was thinking East Timor, Michigan Land of 10,000 Islands. I need to finish my 2nd cup of coffee before I start quizzing...I cheered myself up by taking Dimby's Is it....Art? quiz
Don't we just love America? Tobacco can't be advertised because, of course, it has terrible health effects. But no one has ever had issues related to sports gambling or alcohol.
On a side note, I looked into why tobacco advertising in particular is banned. It's regarded as worse than sports gambling or alcohol because of its impact on consumer health. Also, according to the WHO "Studies show that both direct (advertising) and indirect (promotion and sponsorship) approaches increase the likelihood of people beginning or continuing tobacco use." Fair enough, although I feel that should be obvious without research studies...
An easy 10/10. But I did struggle with #8 and #10 because I had no idea for either of them. Guess it's my lucky day, since there were a lot of geography/history qs
