10/10 two days in a row. It's nice when you get the categories. / Now I get the pattern: Roman empire quiz was on the Ides, etc. Maybe opening day will be baseball, arbor day will be tree questions, etc.?

Only missed the Blarney Stone one, almost a perfect 10/10 to make my Irish ancestors proud

The harp is the national instrument, but the bagpipes are absolutely "associated with" Ireland (even if they are originally a Scottish instrument). The question as written is way too vague. Just change it to "What's the national instrument of Ireland?"

Level 77
Mar 17, 2025
I agree, Irish bagpipes (Uilleann pipes) are definitely associated with Ireland
+3
Level 69

To be sure.

Level 57
Mar 17, 2025
I agree, without answer choices if you asked what instrument is commonly associated with Ireland I think most people would say bagpipes

Level 80

I have never associated Ireland with bagpipes. However, the harp is Ireland's national (or heraldic) symbol dating back to the 13th century, so to those who have never been to the Emerald Isle (which is probably the majority), that association would make more sense. The question is fine as is.

Last night I stumbled home carrying an Irish flag, and since Liverpool is often considered to be honorarily Irish, I unsurprisingly nailed it today haha

Bit of hesitation looking for "gift of the gab" on the Blarney Stone question, and dropped some points remembering Leopold Bloom was from Ulysses, but an all around solid 9,921 😁
