9/10 today, again. Today it was because of Singapore (I never heard this quote before).

If you want a regular 9er, feel free to add me: https://www.jetpunk.com/friends/invite/vRwJJwXE

I figured it had to be air conditioning because of how hot and humid it is, and because it's near the equator it's like that all year round.

5/10, sixth worst score of all time today. Rough.

7/10 didn't know I've hockey, air conditioning or fox. Funny fact: Catherine Zeta Jones was in Zorro and there was also a thief in ocean's 12 (her character's dad or the other guy) who was nicknamed the fox.

Ew, missed three in a row. I don’t know how I didnt realize that painting would be called The Kiss… I immediately thought, “Oh, he’s the guy that uses gold colours in every painting.” The I inexplicably picked the Vermeer painting. What the heck happens in my brain in the two seconds I take to pick an answer…
+1
Level 64
Apr 27, 2025
I think Vermeer, with Van Gogh, is one of the two masters of yellow, so going with yellow isn't too far off from gold.

Level 68

The same thing that happens to mine! I also missed that one, even though I knew the answer. Oh well.

I saw my leaderboard and knew this was going to be a rough one...7/10....I thought 'The Kiss' was a sculpture by Rodin, don't know much about bacteris other than it took forever for my doctor to diagnose blastocytis hominus, and zorro....must be mask! But it's my birthday today and I don't care!
+2
Level 89
Apr 27, 2025
To be fair to you, The Kiss *is* also a sculpture by Rodin

Also, happy birthday! Hope it was a good one!

9/10, question 7 got me.
+3
Level 67

I was astonished to learn that plague is the name of a disease. In relation to sickness I thought it meant a contagious disease gone rampant, like an epidemic.
+3
Level 82
Apr 27, 2025
You're right that the term can be used for any disease of epidemic proportions, but it's also used specifically for the Bubonic Plague.

I dreamed of the DTC last night. I don't remember the questions but I know that I had the score 5,018.

did actually worse than that today

3/10... Maybe I should redo my IQ test.
+5
Level 69
Apr 27, 2025
No need, IQ tests aren't concerned with crystalized knowledge.
+1
Level 47
Apr 27, 2025
I think they might be just a bit. They measure both crystallized and fluid intelligence.
+1
Level 47
Apr 27, 2025
But intelligence tests measure your ability to retain and process knowledge and information, sir.
+2
Level 89
Apr 27, 2025
IQ tests absolutely don't measure knowledge, they just measure pattern recognition. You could 100% an IQ test and still not know any of the answers to these quizzes.
+1
Level 76

Don't some IQ test have a difficult words section? Or atleast an odd one out test, or like a) is to b) as x) is to ...?

The plague one caught me out, I think I'm getting quicker at these though, regularly in the 900s (although not often hitting 9900s as I keep getting one wrong)

"Zorro, Zorro, the fox so cunning and free

Zorro, Zorro, who makes the sign of the Z"

lyrics from the Disney TV series (1957)

Four years of high school Spanish didn't hurt either.

9/10 and I opted for yellow taxis...
+2
Level 44
Apr 27, 2025
are black cabs not more iconic than new york taxis? or is that me just being british
+1
Level 83
Apr 27, 2025
I don't there's an objective answer to that question. Irl, it depends where you live. In tv/movies, it depends what you watch.
+1
Level 76
Nov 2, 2025
From a non US, non UK person point of view, I would say the yellow cabs. The red double decker busses are at least as iconic though.

How did I get the Molotov cocktail question wrong 😅
+2
Level 64
Apr 27, 2025
9/10. I've heard the quote that air conditioning elected Ronald Reagan, but never anything about Singapore. But more embarrassing I was momentarily looking for Klimt's Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer but of course The Kiss is more famous. D'oh.

How you people know the name of the plague bacteria is beyond me? I mean I am a slightly above average player (percentile in the 70s on average) and a biology major (first year though) yet how come 47% of you peeps know such a technical piece info?

I guess this is just some ranting on my part...

+4
Level 63

just one of those things that comes up often enough (because the black death was so bad lol) that you eventually get to know it. you'll pick these things up from playing enough quizzes
+3
Level 89
Apr 27, 2025
Can't speak for everyone but I've seen it in papers I've edited a fair few times, and while most bacterial species names are extremely hard to remember, this one comes from the Latin word for plague, which is also where we get the English word "pestilence", so it's always stuck with me haha
+1
Level 76

Yea the pestis was the huge clue there, the first part Yersinia did not ring a bell for me though. Luckily it did not have to

Drat, another really fast 9/10 (8,944), but I got the Singapore one wrong. At least I was with the majority in thinking it would be the computer chip 😅
+2
Level 74
Apr 27, 2025
In that heat and humidity, computer chips wouldn't last long - unless they are in airconditioned buildings. ;-)

+2
Level 70
Apr 27, 2025
7/10. I almost said ice hockey, but I didn't. Never been to London so don't know what color their cabs are, and computer chips seemed a better answer than air conditioning.

10/10 and my best score so far. I know it can sound a very stupid question, but what does it mean "this beats or equals 100% of test takers"? I just don't see how I could get the best score for the day... Is there a daily best chart?

Had no idea on nr 9 though, interesting one.
