I'm not Christian and I don't come from a Christian background or environment so I guess 5/10 is fine. I haven't seen it but I got the last one correct from a tv series bc I read its plot before haha.
I got 8/10 I chose 3% for the popes coming from Italy, I guess it's just more recently that they've been from elsewhere. And chose cardinals as being eligible to be Pope. So does the answer mean the cardinals in the concave could theoretically vote for any catholic baptized male, not just the cardinals present? 🤔
The pope does not need to be a cardinal elector nor indeed even a cardinal; since the pope is the bishop of Rome, only one who can be ordained a bishop can be elected, which means that any male baptized Catholic is eligible.
The last to be elected when not yet a bishop was Gregory XVI in 1831, the last to be elected when not even a priest was Leo X in 1513, and the last to be elected when not a cardinal was Urban VI in 1378.
Yes, most of the popes before John Paul II were Italian, but since him, none have been. He was Polish, Benedict was German, Francis was Argentinian, and now Leo is American. There is a quiz somewhere on the popes' nationalities
8/10 today, thought I was on for a really good time for a minute there but made a couple of slips. Got the eligibility one wrong by going against my instinct, and for the shoes one I thought Gucci was a safe bet, but I guess not 😅
Also, hands up who else only knew Borgia from Assassin's Creed? 🙋♂️😂
Nope I knew it from reading all the Samual Shellabarger historical novels when I was a teenager/young adult. 'The Prince of Foxes' was all about the Borgias. They were the Roman family (Lucretia the poison-queen, illegitamely fathered by Pope Alexander) all about power. The Medicis were Florentines, cultured, supported art, architecture, literature.
Ahh I'm not familiar with those novels haha, but I did also learn about the Medicis from Assassin's Creed, and later from watching the TV series Medici (which I thoroughly recommend if you haven't seen it, some great performances, especially from Dustin Hoffman and Sean Bean)
10/10 Helps to be raised Catholic, spent an Irish summer living with the Irish Sisters of Charity, read/watched all the Robert Langdon books (Dan Brown) and Tom Hanks movies, also the Two Popes and Conclave movies, followed the recent conclave and then took several JP Pope-related quizzes of which several questions were on today's DTC. 😊
I have no idea
I'm an atheist so yea

A lot of these I've only learnt in the last month or so, but 3 still I had no clue about
Missed the one about eligibility, I knew it didn't have to be a cardinal or bishop, but I thought they had to be priests.
