Ugh. I can’t believe I missed a movie question. Especially one about Grace Kelly. I tapped Bergman without thinking and then realized that’s the wrong 50s bombshell. :(
Also, I run the risk of getting banned, but I’ll be bravehearted and point out that the Oscar year question is a bit coldhearted. I’d say that most film buffs wholeheartedly go by the year the winner was released and not just the year of the awards ceremony. Anyway, it might be more kindhearted to have omitted Braveheart for The English Patient or whatever.
It is pretty obvious that the Oscars are given for the previous year - hard to award a 1995 Oscar for a 1995 movie when the Oscar ceremonies are presented in March. I think Braveheart was a QM con for those few that are confused. The question for a Braveheart answer would be: 'What movie won the Oscar for the best movie released in 1995?'
When I saw that the theme was movies (after question 2), I was nervous, because movies aren't my thing. Ended up getting 9/10. Stupidly said Bravehart instead of Forrest Gump, because FG came out in '94. Yeah, moron, that means it would have won in '95. Oh well.
Surprisingly easy 10/10, 9,796....helps to have been raised in Los Angeles, a father (who was a photographer) who took us tirelessly to Grauman's Chinese in the 50s/60s whenever a new Cinemascope movie came out and a mother addicted to the Oscars. Forrest Gump was the last movie I took my mom to before she died...
Ooof, 6/10, and my 4th worst score of all time, not a good day for me today. Could have sworn I remembered seeing Gone with the Wind in black and white; fell for the very mean Braveheart trap; had no idea on the movie premiere location; and by the end I was on tilt so I thought Kim Jong-Il might be a trap and went for Saddam instead.
Questions have generally been pretty tricky this month, a few weeks ago I was one 10/10 away from getting my average up to 9,200, but I've fallen off quite a bit since then, gonna need to revise my weak areas if I'm ever gonna achieve that target haha (film being one of them)
I got 10/10! Pretty easy quiz, the last question was a bit tricky but then I vaguely remembered the bizarre story of who kidnapped the film director and his wife.
Crow is such a good movie but it's so sad.
