Me neither, weird. Also missed the penguins, was a 50/50 with Greenland; and Teflon, I was expecting to see a plastic and finally went for antifreeze although tbh it's spelt out Te-flo-n. Hey ho.
@SofiaF93, the archipelago straddles the equator. From the relevant Wikipedia page:
"The islands are found at the coordinates 1°40'N–1°36'S, 89°16'–92°01'W. Straddling the equator, islands in the chain are located in both the northern and southern hemispheres, with Volcán Wolf and Volcán Ecuador on Isla Isabela being directly on the equator."
Trivia questions are neither easy nor difficult as a matter of objective fact. They are easy when you happen to know the answer. Once in a while, by luck, you may get a group that you know.
Finally back to 10/10 after a bit of a bumpy spell, decent score of 9,917. Hilariously the one I was least sure of here was Princess Anne, despite being British lmao, but lost most of my bonus time sounding out PTFE in my head for question 10. I expect a lot of people to get caught out by Sealand today but I knew that one from my teenage years when I wanted to follow suit and found my own country XD
Being French, we have two words for penguin. We say "manchot" for those from the southern hemisphere and "pingouin" for those from the northern hemisphere. I didn't know it was the same word in English...
But wild penguins barely exist north of the equator, and not even as a distinct population. What possible use could such a word have? Just for the ones in captivity?
Was a bit slow on Q1, zipped through Q2-8, guessed wrong on Q9 (interesting story) and Q10 was pretty obvious by the name....kinda like knowing the origin of 'Canola'
I wasn't sure how far north/south the Galápagos Islands are so I picked South Africa. I remember hearing about the military platform "country" when I lived in England but didn't know the name of it. 8/10.
Am I the only one that has not heard of Berkley Hathaway?? No one is mentioning it. I would have expected some comments about it (and explanation what it is, now I have to google it..)
