Reckon Q9 is a load of bull

There’s a reason someone might know this. Prey animals don’t sleep very much. Predators do.

Sorry it was not intended to be taken seriously :-)

That was actually my line of reasoning, they don't sleep much because they're constantly on the look out.

So I’m a predator? I should be hunting cows in my waking hours? That logic kinda checks out.
+5
Level 89

I mean, humans absolutely are predators. We may not go out and hunt as much anymore, but historically we did, and we’ve learned to eat just about every species on this planet.

I grew up in the country and just figured I never actually saw a cow sleep.

I grew up surrounded by cattle in the country, too, and you'd think I would remember that but no. I went with 12 😂

I knew they definitely didn't sleep between 8 and 8, since I have hardly ever seen one sleeping (did not grow up in the countryside, but they are everywhere here, you can always reach a cow within 10 minutes I think haha). Did not think it was 8 hours but could not bring myself to press 4 it seemed so low. If there was a 5 or a 6 I would have gone for that.

9/10, thought Bangladesh would have a lot of cattle
+10
Level 72

they have a lot of people, and the people eat the cattle

I wasn't sure if the majority were Hindu and wouldn't be eating the cattle.

me too, but ig we both just completely ignored the fact that it also has a LOT of people

Yeah, because it's the person to cattle ratio here, not just total cattle

"The countries with the largest cattle populations are India, Brazil, and China. In 2023, India had the largest cattle inventory with 307.5 million head, followed by Brazil with 194.4 million, and China with 101.5 million."

Bangladesh is @10-15th at 25m

8/10 - Got the cow breed and the hours slept per day wrong.
+2
Level 66
Jul 29, 2025
same here...I should have known the hours slept because they are similar to horses who hardly sleep. It's what the QM referred to, prey animals hardly sleep

Had the question right but I had another reasoning viz.I rather reasoned cattle eat grass which is hard to digest so they have to feed all the time with thus little time to sleep.Whilst predators once they have caught a prey have a lot of proteins in etc in one time after which they can afford to sleep a lot , for days even, until they get hungry again and will have to search for a next prey.

Just my two cents

Got 2, 4, 6 & 7 wrong. One day I'm gonna start watching the Simpsons, if only to have a better chance at this quiz.

9/10 for me today, pretty solid on the ones I got right, but wasn't sure if cows slept more or less than us, so I was torn between 4 and 12 but guessed wrong.

In hindsight, QM's comment about prey animals sleeping less makes so much sense though! Alas, I did not think of that 😂

It's interesting, though, that cats, who are both predator and prey, sleep non-stop. Or so it seems, lol.
+7

I'm not sure I'd say any cats really count as prey, at least not in the ecological sense.

True, much like lions and hyenas will eat one another opportunistically, but that has no bearing on their overall role in the food chain. They're still fundamentally predators.

8/10. I really should have gotten holstein, but I second guessed myself. Not really concerned that I don't know how much cows sleep, though.

I grew up in a small village, I often saw cows laying around, never checked if they were asleep or not, and trust, at night, I'm sleeping, I'm not gonna go check how long they sleep XD

So bad for this Taurean today (6/10). But the bogan option gave me a smile (bogan is an Australian term for the great unwashed, like chav in the UK, or trailer trash in the US).

Loved the theme so I went too fast and missed some obvious ones I knew. But at least I knew Holsteins and Aurochs without guessing, and I remembered my 1st grade "Don't have a cow, man!" t-shirt1

9/10. I grew up on a cattle ranch. I missed the hours per day question. When we were working on the ranch, the cows were not sleeping.
