Oorgh. Really snatched defeat from the jaws of victory there. Immediately went to choose “struggle” because of prior knowledge and then just ignored my own intuition and picked something else.

6/10. Picked Croatia, purity, Marx and Octopus.

Japan and earth were lucky guesses.

I got the first 4 correct and proceeded to somehow get the next 6 wrong - one of the worst games of my life

Back in the saddle 😁 10/10, 9,920

Unusually, the hardest for me today was question 1, was torn between France and Thailand.

Also, unfortunate to see so many still think Jihad means war

"Kill the infidels wherever you find them" S9 V5

"And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and polytheism: i.e. worshipping others besides Allâh)" S8 V39

Thanks "religion of peace"

If we're playing the game of cherry picking from religious texts, you might want to take a look at Deuteronomy 7...

Spoiler alert, it actively calls for the genocide of seven nations, for the crime of - you guessed it - worshipping the wrong gods

Funny, almost like the Abrahamic religions have that in common...

I was also torn between France and Thailand, but choose wrong.

After 2 10s I hit a 7, EKG through me as i swear it's ECG here in England, not my best effort

Level 68

Electrocardiogram, so makes sense
+2
Level 80
Aug 13, 2025
EKG is taken from the German original term Elektrokardiogramm. It may also come from Dutch, given that it was invented by Willem Einthoven, a Dutch scientist.

Thanks to both, now I know 💪

But in Dutch it is an ECG.. And the word in full is Elektrocardiogram.

9/10. Easily eliminated the python, but after that, no clue. Do not want to run across that jellyfish.

I'm either better than 90% or worse than 90%, just can't be average lately.

And btw. it feels like we have avout three movie questions a day and barely a sports question anymore.

Haha I just commented thank goodness there were two movie questions and no sports questions. I was standing right next to Peyton Manning just a couple hours ago and had no idea who he was until people told me afterwards.

Love the "Goldilocks Zone". I'd never heard of it, but it makes sense - everything is 'just right' to make it a habitable planet.

I didn't pay enough attention and went for the wrong answer on question 8, despite knowing the correct answer.
+3

The answer to question 4 should be ECG. Cardio begins with a C. Spelling it with a K is a piece of American nonsense.

A pretty slow 10 is still a 10. I'll take it. Now to go back and catch up on the last two days I missed working long hours.

9/10. I'm not a Nic Cage connoisseur.

Slow 8/10 Never heard of Goldilocks but should have thought it through 'just right'...lol. I puzzled on Q9 - both Giant Pacific and Lion's Mane are here in NW Pacific and in the San Juan de Fuca straits, but in my head a Portuguese Man O' War is bigger than a Lion's Mane and I went the octopus.

I missed Q9 as well, really couldn't wrap by head around that question. looked at my coffee for a few seconds and and said (actually out loud) "whatev, python". No soup for you!

anybody know the reason for france having so many tourists in 2023?

I think France routinely has the most tourists and QM just picked a specific year with easily sourced data

I'm not sure what is most sad: that 11% of folks thought "the Rock" was an Oscar Winning performance, or that more people (18%) thought ConAir was more worthy.

Whoa, just got in from Zagreb, where, in a state of exhaustion, I remarked to the cabbie that he looked like Nicolas Cage. He didn't know who that was, so I showed him a photo, and he agreed. We joked that the two of them must be long-lost cousins, if not brothers! Not that I ever even think about Cage. And now here he is in the one JetPunk question that kept me from getting a ten out of ten!

Loved question 2 seeing how many people guessed a different planet :D I guess earth isn't just right for them ;)

Nearly a 10 nr 10 was a complete guess and a wrong one.
