Kicking myself for only getting the druid one wrong, which I could've easily gotten right if i took an extra few seconds to actually think about it ........
I really need to research more into Persian religions—QM really likes to sneak questions about obscure Persian religions into quizzes. Maybe he’s the reincarnation of Zoroaster.
It’s funny because I was on pace for a record score until that last question, where I was definitely scanning for Zoroaster. I managed to get a 10/10, but had to think too long on the last one
7/10 for me. I knew Ramadan was more than 1 day but that was it. I thought science fiction author must be a trick so went for dentist; and had no idea about the Persian religion.
Bacon is not kosher since it comes from a land animal that doesn’t chew its cud. (Aka pig)
Cheeseburger is not kosher since it mixes dairy and meat, there is an explicit prohibition on that in Leviticus ״Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk.״ this prohibition later was interpreted as mixing all dairy and meat as non-kosher.
Lobster is not kosher since fish must have scales in order to be kosher (fit to eat). Yes, shrimps, calamari, lobsters all are not kosher…
Chicken wings are kosher if they were not mixed with milk, didn’t touch any meat that isn’t kosher and for some, the chicken must be slaughtered in a kosher way and drained of all blood.
I knew the meat/dairy rule, but it's always struck me as a curiousy broad interpretation. Like if the Torah said "don't wear pink socks on Thursdays", and you interpret that as a ban on all footwear at all times.
And, of course, that doesn't settle the matter. That's why you need an army of rabbis.
What if I eat a burger then a slice of cheese in the same bite? What if I wait 5 seconds to eat the cheese? What if I wait 10 minutes?
I think they ended up settling on a 6 hour buffer period, but I'm not going to check. Observant Jews have separate dishes and dishwashers for dairy and meat.
The Torah isn’t the only part of the Jewish faith. The Talmud is an important part too, which includes discussions and debates by rabbinic scholars. Sometimes rabbis would respond to a meditation hundreds of years later. That’s where most rules like kosher food are hammered down.
9/10 once again, this is becoming a pattern 😅 Had no idea that cheeseburgers weren't kosher. Got the rest easily enough, although Q10 was more of a process of elimination.
Missed the kosher Q5 and Persian Q10....associated Darius with Alexander the Great with Persia...wild stab...Jewish people can't eat lobster? How terribly sad...
9/10, don’t know the history of scientology but I would expect the Persian question to be easy to solve (by elimination if not knowing the name) and was surprised to see the reverse results!
Kicking myself over the fried chicken.
#10 seemed to get a lot of people.
Got the last two wrong.
Good quiz though.
