9/10 today, fell at the final hurdle, cars remain the bane of my quizzing existence (I still haven't forgotten the day we had a whole car theme and I got my worst ever score 😂), but at least this time I seem to have gone with the majority.
Survived a couple of tricky ones on the way there, too. The Mozart one was barely a hunch, and Prussia was an educated guess based on the time period.
I feel pretty spry about besting you today! It was a nice 'thinking' quiz & I just was able to 'think' right, most were processes of elimination, and fairly quick.
45% of people need to learn more about moa! They’re thought to be the tallest birds ever to exist, and apart from humans, their only predators were the Haast eagle, the biggest flying bird of prey ever.
That is really interesting! I got the question right only because I knew the dodo, auk and passenger pigeon were wrong. I'm a very minor twitcher here in the Pacific Northwest.
I love moa and was just reading about them in a book on extinctions yesterday, but they were taller than the South American terror birds? The ones that were essentially dinosaurs? I'm going to check this factoid out! :)
Yes it's true. The Kelenken guillermoi was ten feet tall, but one of the nine species of moa reached twelve feet tall! Slimmer (550 vs 650 lbs) and, as an herbivore, not such a killing machine, but two feet taller!
Do you mean from your other account? Or is there a delay on your side? You typed those responses but didn't actually see them on the screen? It is possible that you aren't taking the mickey.
My first 10/10 in quite awhile & quietly satisfying. Q2,3,4,5,6 were processes of eliminination, I've spent more I care to tell on D&D dice, cards & Magic cards & 'Wizard of the Coast' summer camps for my son, his friends, now his own children. Q8 was the closest call, I went with what the lack of US government is now, Q9 was a pretty confident choice, Q10....I know engines.
9/10 Mandatory public school sounded like a Spartan thing that Prussia would do, but I wasn't sure it existed as a country way back then, so I thought it was a trick. Darn. Also, thanks to Boy Scouts teaching me about internal combustion engines; I had to use that memory because I haven't had a car since 2002 and don't know what all their new-fangled technology is.
4/10. I need to get better at trivia. Guessed all questions apart from the African one, where I knocked out two answers just based off of the geography I knew.
