My favorite acceptance speech was Julia Roberts' for Erin Brockovich, when she told the conductor ""Sir, you're doing a great job, but you're so quick with that stick. So why don't you sit, 'cause I may never be here again." And when the music finally did come up later in her speech she kept thanking everyone on her list, time limits be damned.
My great-great grandfather (might be another "great" in there) attended the coronation of king Oscar, afterwards saying that it was "far too much fuss for one man" 😄
8/10. Didn't know what Leo won an oscar for or the o ne with the record for oscar noms. Honestly, surprised I did this well in an oscar themed quiz.
My best friend would have gotten the first question wrong because she always inssists oscars and academy awards are two different things. Wish she took this test.
9/10 (Austria and Hungary) but I do wish all the questions were about Oscar the Grouch. He started out orange, his best friend is Slimey, he was performed by Caroll Spinney, his pet elephant is named Fluffy...
Knew 1 and 3, managed to guess wrong on every other question for an astounding 2/10! Pop culture never was my strong suit, but I should have got the King Oscar question right, by process of elimination if nothing else.
9/10 for me today, managed a lucky guess on the speech question, but had no idea on king Oscar I, and thought the name sounded more likely to be Central/Eastern European than Scandinavian.
Probably one of the few in these comments that saw all 10 best picture nominees, Sinners is a joke. There are a few technically good things about it and it should win those technical categories, but it was a conceptual mess and all of Coogler's work is extremely preachy - no nuance. MBJ is good, but I wasn't as captured by his performance in this as many were, probably because the story assumed I would care about the characters instead of attempting to make me.
Edit: If I'm gonna leave this comment I'll leave my final order: 1. OBAA 2. Marty Supreme 3. The Secret Agent 4. Bugonia 5. Sentimental Value 6. F1 (expected this to be last, pleasantly surprised) 7. Hamnet 8. Sinners 9. Frankenstein 10. Train Dreams.
Questions about historical characters etc related to Oscar/Oskar - no problem. Questions about random American films and their self congratulatory awards - no chance!
hadn't heard of Sacheen Littlefeather before, found it interesting to go and read about her and her Oscars appearance. thank you for including things that encourage us to go and learn more as well as testing existing knowledge
I guess I know my oscar/oskars : )
Never heard of King Oscar and didn't know the film with the record nominations.
