A near-extinction event 10,000 years ago removed almost all the genetic diversity of cheetahs. As a result, unrelated cheetahs are so genetically similar that they can accept skin grafts from each other. In humans, even full siblings can't do that unless they are identical twins.

Hey, that’s another checkmark for my JetPunk life goals. For the record, the Great Hexagon is amazing. It’s not just a name… It’s a hexagon with sharp corners. Apparently scientists were absolutely shocked, but did manage to make a replica in a wind tunnel.

+1 more fact:

I just had to share it here as well: The New York Times made a prediction in an article titled "Flying Machines Which Do Not Fly" on October 9, 1903. This article incorrectly predicted it would take one to ten million years for humanity to develop an operating flying machine, when just 69 days later, December 17, 1903, Wilbur and Orville Wright made history with the first successful flight of the airplane.

How is that a paradox? For the (same amount of) dry substance to make out twice as large a share of the potato, obviously the wet part (which is basically the entirety by weight) has to become half as large as before. Thus, half the weight. Basic math.
