The full quote of number 7 is as follows:

“Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.”

He said this in protection of British soldiers who fired in the Boston Massacre. His statement basically meant that, even though he wasn’t on the side of the soldiers, it didn’t matter; the facts were that the soldiers weren’t guilty.
