Christian Group on JetPunk

Submitted by MeMeMe333 on September 6, 2025
I'm just wondering if there's a Christian community on JetPunk. The other day in the daily trivia, there was a Christian-based comment thread that got deleted/removed, and I'm wondering why it disappeared.

So... I'm planning to make a Christian JetPunk group.

Where people can...

Strengthen each other's faith on this site

Give prayer points and pray for each other

Reach more people

Share Bible verses and such.

Acts 2:42-47:

42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

If this already exists, please tell me. I will create a group on Monday or something.

Prayer points are when you ask other people to pray for you (in dot points).

There are two different types of: The points you get for winning things, and bullet points.

The 'points' in prayer points have the meaning of bullet points

I’m a Catholic, so I’m not coming at this from an anti-Christian or anti-religion sentiment, but this makes me very uncomfortable. I don’t think a quiz website is an appropriate forum to “strengthen each other's faith” or “reach more people”.

Far be it from me to tell anyone else how to use this site, but it feels very cult-like.

I’m not being flippant, but when you say “pray for each other”, in what sense exactly? In the hope that you get a featured quiz?

As for giving prayer points - the only points given on this website should be for taking quizzes!

Nope, not for featured quizzes. Is it wrong to pray for other people though??? Sorry that his idea makes you feel uncomfortable, I got to a Baptist Church.

Unless it’s in the form of a quiz, I just don’t think religion - or politics - has a place on this site

I agree with Josh, why do we need to do this everywhere? There are plenty of social media platforms, programs, churches, dedicated people and websites for this, every website that allows talking with other people doesn't need religion everywhere

I don't have anything against Christianity, but JetPunk is not a place for religious purposes.

I think it’s fine for people to want to have a Christian group, and to have one here. Clearly, this would only be for those who share the same or similar beliefs, and it would be voluntary.

Those who don’t like this group wont join.

They can’t hold the power to forbid the ones who do, though.

Why can’t we accommodate different healthy subsets of people within the Jetpunk community?

What do you think, Dan/QM?

I think it’s pretty clear that those of us in opposition aren’t saying there can’t be a Christian group - we don’t have the jurisdiction to dictate that - we’re saying that there shouldn’t be one. There’s a difference.

Let’s take this to its logical conclusion. Are we going to have political subsets? Is there going to be a Republican and a Democrat subset? Labour and Conservative? Leave and Remain?

Who dictates who is and isn’t allowed in a certain group? Are atheists allowed in the Christian group? If so, what happens if arguments ensue? Is QM expected to moderate them?

So nobody is saying that there can’t be a Christian group, but my personal view is that it opens up an unnecessary can of worms.

As you said groups for serious topics such as religion, gender etc. would require a significant amount of moderation everyday by Quizmaster. Imagine if the 5 major religions each had a group, would he have to check in on each group everyday along with moderating the rest of the site? That's just not feasible.

Some of the people are saying there shouldn't be one, by the way.

Also, not everyone is in USA, so politics will definitely not be apart of it.

The point of the group is to help other people, not start religion/political based arguments.

And also, atheists are welcome to join in. And I don't think anyone will willingly spend their time creating political/religious arguments in JetPunk groups.

Nobody’s forbidding anything, we don’t run the website. But creating groups around controversial subjects is bad and is likely going to get deleted or moderated.

It’s evident to me that this hypothetical group will become an epicenter of religious debate and that’s exactly the kind of thing that QM doesn’t want. This is not Twitter.

I'm not actively religious and I consider myself an agnostic (I think there could be a spiritual being out there, but am not strongly convinced by any one religion). With regard to the group idea, I say go for it! It clearly has a positive intention, and doesn't appear to be harmful to others. As long as it continues to come from a positive place, I see no issue with this. And for those who don't like it, it doesn't affect your daily life, so ignore it rather than trying to undermine it.

Thanks for your support! If I'd gotten to make it, I'll invite you.

Sadly, Stewart has kindly declined the idea of this group - I probably will continue trying to make it happen, but I guess right not is not the time for the group on JetPunk, in some people's opinion. If you want links for Christian resources, please let me know, in a comment of a MB post, blog or quiz.

I probably will give resource links in my next blog.

I think you missed the point, nichster. JetPunk is not a forum or social media platform.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but my opposition to forming religion-based groups, of any kind, is with JetPunk at its heart. The suggestions the OP was proposing are just so irrelevant to what this website is supposed to be about.

If he’d said that he wanted to make the group as a way of developing a strong base of Christianity-centric quizzes, I doubt anyone would be in opposition.

But a group to “Strengthen each other's faith on this site, give prayer points and pray for each other, reach more people, share Bible verses and such”. On a quiz website? Really?

I’m pleased that Stewart opted to reject the proposal.

An idea can be simultaneously harmless and terrible. I don’t believe the OP’s suggestion was rooted in malevolence, but it would have set an unfortunate precedent.

If anyone wants a Christian group, why not do so away from JetPunk?
