Do People do this where you live

Submitted by zarodinu on February 26, 2026
Do people say "if you don't like the weather, just wait 5 minutes" or something like that where you live? It feels like every place in the US says that. I don't know about Europe or elsewhere, though.

Never heard of it.

The weather is unpredictable here in the UK (weather forecasts seem to fail often), but "wait 5 minutes and the weather will change" is probably a bit of an exaggeration.

It's even less realistic in China (at least the part of the country where I'm from).

They don't say that in Australia as far as I know, but it's a very realistic statement

It's raining? Wait 5 minutes and it's gonna be so hot you could probably cook an egg

So true, but I've never heard of the phrase.

It is probably most common in the south and great plains. The last time the weather changed really quickly here, though was in December. The temperature dropped 50 (Fahrenheit) degrees in 12 hours. It went from 75 at noon to 25 by midnight.

Never heard it, but it's accurate here in Maryland. We love our basically unpredictable weather

Never heard it in New Jersey. Except for the occasional outlier, the weather follows the expectable trend here.

Haven't heard such a phrase, despite the weather usually changing all the time here.

In great scotland the average person will be like "Nice weather innit?" whilst the entire water content of the Earth is being dumped outside

Definitely a phrase in Colorado. Seems accurate enough to me

I'm in the UK and the weather can be "changeable" as the TV puts it. I have heard the phrase, but generally only referring to the Scottish Islands, and to Ireland.
