Grokipedia follow-up

Submitted by Quizmaster on January 11, 2026
A few months ago, I talked about the launch of Grokipedia, Elon Musk's effort to take on Wikipedia. At the time, the content was mostly just cribbed from Wikipedia.

But I checked back today, and the AI at Grokipedia has been busy. Very busy.

Here's the page for JetPunk on Grokipedia.

Here's the Wikipedia version.

Grokipedia has a lot of details that the Wikipedia version doesn't and is updated more regularly. But overall, the Wikipedia version is more accurate. Sadly, there are some things in the Grokipedia page which are flat out wrong. It is also unnecessarily long winded and includes a lot of irrelevant details. Neither of these should be a surprise to anyone who has used AI.

I guess the next step would be to see if Grok is able to fix errors in the page when I point them out.

If it's going to be partially correct like ChatGPT, it's not gonna attract a lot of people.

We'll see. Everything is sourced. The errors might come from inability to reason correctly about the sources.

For example, it says we switched from Trees to the Future in 2025, when it was actually much earlier. Perhaps it was using the blog dateline (based on the most recent update) to get the year.

Wikipedia, on the other hand, has a lot of pages with insufficient or outdated sources. There are tons of pages that haven't been updated in years just rotting away.

The articles are so full of fluff to the point of being annoying to read. Grok, and really most LLMs, need to learn the virtue of brevity.
