halloween oughta be a national holiday:

- widespread celebrations, one of the most popular holidays

- gift giving and community. how often can you see an entire community visiting neighbors' houses?

- celebrates american fall and "spooky season"

- celebrates american gothic literature? (it started and flourished here, and has strong connected themes)

- celebrates american pop culture (superheros, scary villains)

- would give americans more time to be w families and go trick-or-treating (America has some of the least # of holidays per year!)
