I've had two spotlights since the new Front Page went live, once in December last year and once yesterday. Both only generated a few hundred takes in comparison to the 1,000+ before.
I'm guessing it's because the new front page gives people the option to hide the spotlighted quizzes from the FP. I'm not against this design choice but I feel like it's been a factor in the decrease in takes.
But it could be just me and there might be other factors at play, such as both spotlights taking place on weekend days (once on Saturday and once on Sunday), or the relatively niche genres of those quizzes.
Does anyone else feel the same?
I have stopped checking the recent spotlights page, though.
I know it depends on the quiz - sudden death tends to get a lot of takes (almost a thousand, and it benefits your other sudden death quizzes), which niche-er topics (like my Bible quizzes) only get around 100 takes.
On the bright side, you do get free premium!
I usually get a couple hundred, maybe a bit more if the quiz is short and easier.
I was inactive for most of 2024 and 2025 and had a few spotlights during that period, but since I wasn't active I don't know how they performed
Personally I've noticed a marginal drop (as expected for the new position) but it's nothing particularly of note.
Also where they were before - so prominently displayed - was a problem as a number of spotlit quizzes were inaccurate and out of date. Being slightly more hidden and less in-your-face helps that issue
Personally, I've probably played more spotlighted quizzes before new design. I also feel that there might be more rehashed and too niche quizzes (to the point I don't recognize the topic at all) whenever I check the spotlights.
