Have you heard about Intervision Song Contest?

It ended just right a hour ago or less. Sadly, I didn't find a full show on YouTube, so I worry that I can't probably give you a link to this. I can say, it was just amazing, despite all problems. Very positive emotions. Glad to see the five contnents together!

If you don't know, it's a song contest initiated by Russia. In general, it often was positionted as alternative to Eurovision (but I just really want you don't think about it this way. I prefer to think about this like the kind of new event, because it's really intetesting without any compares or antagonism. On the contrary, it was very friendly and positive!). Participants were primely from Asia, Africa and Latin America, so it was very diverse. Totally, there were 23 countries (dsspite USA, as I expected, they gave up in the last second).

Full mumber list:

Belarus, Russia, Serbia from Europe;

Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Ubzekistan from Central Asia;

Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Egypt from Middle East;

China, India and Vietnam from South, Southeast and East Asia;

Kenya, South Africa, Ethiopia and Madagascar from Sub-Saharan Africa;

Brazil, Venezuela, USA, Cuba and Colombia from the Americas.

I can't state which countries were good or bad... if you are interested, you can choose your favorites of that contest by your own. But I have my personal favorites — Colombia, Madagascar, Cuba, Vietnam. Very good performances were from Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan (tbh, it's easier to say which performances I didn't like, it was Russia and Belarus, unfortunately, wrong choices). The Qatar participant was the adorable woman!

Okay, now there is a full official broadcast of this show.

I apologize if this post has offended your feelings in any way, or if you feel that my political stance does not align with yours. I want to emphasize that I am avoiding adding political context to this post, as I am not interested in the immediate aspects of the show, such as its political implications, whether they be Western or Russian. If you truly have any concerns of this nature regarding me, the show, or anything else, I encourage you to create your own thread on the subject. The topic of cultural diversity is also discussed here. I sincerely do not set out to provoke a conflict with you. On the contrary, I want you to look at this event from a different perspective, and I feel ashamed if I am not able to do so.

I followed your link, and had a quick scan of the contest, it looks like a real alternative to Eurovision. Although at 4+ hours I will have to find the time to watch it.

No, of course, 4 hours of life is too huge a resource.

Yes, the show turned out to be very good! for this, I suppose, we should thank the sponsors in the form of the UAE and Qatar, which allowed us to make the necessary scope (by the way, because of this, it has already been announced that the next year will be the host of Saudi Arabia). However, I, for my part, am fascinated by the participants from other countries, as well as the generally very friendly atmosphere of the competition. Really, I think, the participants made that evening!

Beside that, I also want to look at that like at the window to other countries cultures. This was just a firework of cultural diversity! I 100% never could watch anything like Ethiopian, Colombian or Vietnamese performances on TV, at least, Russian. So I glad to see interest to another cultures is awakening, or at least, trying to do it.

Don't get me wrong, I will watch it at some point, but with work and family commitments, I may have to wait a while. I suppose I could watch it in half hour segments, yes, I'll do that!

I will listen to music from anywhere around the world, so this will be a nice addition.

No, no, I understand you. I have a lot of respect for you, so I didn't mean to reproach you in any way. On the contrary, I wanted to agree with you. I am a huge fan of Eurovision myself, and I used to be a huge geek about it. But I've only watched two competitions on TV, in 2016 and 2021, and honestly, I wouldn't watch a 4-hour competition from any other year (unless it was in segments, like Yugoslavia-1989 or Serbia-2008), even though I'm really into this topic.

But I love your enthusiasm! Thank you for responding!

I am interested to see how this turns out, because I think that this is really a great idea, I am just curious to see the response of the world, because of the recent actions taken by Russia, and I would also like to know the view of EBU and Eurovision.
