Hidden Messages in Word Search

Submitted by toowise on February 11, 2025
If you didn't know, in many or the Daily Word Searches there are hidden messages.

Todays was TUSCANY TROUBLES.

To find them, complete the puzzle then spell out the remaining letters (The ones left in the grid that aren't struck through by the green lines)

But does anyone know what they mean apart from Stewart who compiled the Word searches.

Come on Stewart, enlighten us. Maybe add an explanation on each wordsearch?

I know that some of the word searches were part of a puzzle using the letters not used to make words.

Don't remember that they were actually part of the puzzle, rather than just associated in some way or other.

The very first hidden messages were part of the "crack the code" blog series, which the winner of was able to create a word search for the series.

Hey, Aficionado! We still have a Word search each day, it's just that it's an old one. Oh wait, yeah the weekend is usually the same one for two days.

Yeah with the Mega's I felt it was best for them to be the same for Saturday/Sunday to give people a chance to complete them before Monday.

I try to make new ones every now and then, but it's a tough challenge to find the time to do it nowadays :)

That must have been a hectic year when you made one everyday, I know what that feels like.

In Word Search number 276, English County Flags, the remaining letters make the sentence "All the shires in the country".

They do seem to be associated with the WS but then there is a curveball thrown in. I think Stewart has a hidden agenda, or he's just messing with us.

So originally, they were just fun quips. After WS were brought back with the full catalogue and every word search was "fixed up", I added leftover messages to every single one. They generally fall into 3 categories:

1) Some random saying, phrase or word related to the topic

2) A completely random word which fits

3) An unrelated saying or song lyrics

The trouble was always finding something which fit the exact number of gaps leftover.

So, the conspiracy theory about them all being linked is just a theory then?
