How common is it to get a spotlight, and what does it do?

You aren't eligible to earn spotlights until after you reach Level 50. As you increase in level, your chance of earning one increases. If you earn a spotlight, you can use it to spotlight a random unfeatured and non-previously-spotlighted quiz, which puts it in a small box on the front page temporarily to help give the quiz exposure.

You are eligible to earn spotlights before you reach level 50, you just can't give one out until you reach level 50. I have gotten 3 before and 1 of them I received while my levels were in the 30s.

Very rare, as there are thousands of users above level 50. Also for each 10 levels after level 50 you get an extra 'ticket in the drawing', so that decreases your chances even more. On a given day it's probably 1 in a few thousand, if not more

When spotlights first came out, I got 3 to give away in like the first month. Since then though, I've maybe gotten also 3 total.

My quizzes have been spotlighted about 20 times among which at least 8 times by my self as I remember.

I recall getting 3 spotlights so far: one in 2021 when I just reached level 50, one last summer (2024), and one couple of weeks ago.
