How do video games affect our lives?

Submitted by caspianpunk on February 3, 2026
This might not be relevant to everyone, but I recently found my old Nintendo NES games (and made quiz about them) and it made me really nostalgic.

I remembered just how big of a part video games were in my childhood, and it got me thinking they’ve actually been a pretty big part of my life overall.

How have video games affected your life?

I'll start: Pokémon Go actually got me cycling more and discovering new parts of my city.

I’m sure I could read by the age of four mostly because of RPGs on the NES,

Yes!

I implore literally anyone with a basic understanding of video games to play Outer Wilds, without any prior knowledge of the game, you won't be disappointed.

I play a lot of Minecraft and if it taught me anything, it was to be more creative and to not leave floating trees!

Kind of a boring answer but video games have been a huge part of my life since I was a kid. Most of my friendships were formed by playing a game together or by talking about a game we both liked, so for that reason alone they're super important to me.
