Stewart stumbles upon them is all I can come up with.

Yep, and this is a pretty good unofficial tutorial.

I don't think begging is liked by either QM or Stewart... but you can try.

It's not really unofficial, the blog is linked to the Word Search page.

Oops, that must've been added since last time I went into the Word Search creation page. So, yes it is an official guide.

I think it's completely up to Stewart which puzzles get featured.

Sometimes it won't come immediately, I've seen puzzles that got featured weeks after they were published.

It's just like quizzes; if Stewart likes it, then it'll get featured.

Yeah, my featured word search got featured like 2 weeks after it was published

I just randomly got a notification that my Word Search got featured. I think it is a selection at the higher level.

The answer is mostly from what others have said. I pick what I like, what I think others would like and what looks good.

Generally, I am looking for:

- A nice theme that is different and fairly generic

- Suitable words for that theme (e.g. if you're doing a puzzle about cities, it should be at least half cities people would know)

- A dense and well-structured grid. This means having few gaps leftover and having many intersections between words. This makes puzzles more interesting.

I've been making word searches for over 10 years now, as some of ny very first quizzes on JetPunk were word searches. So I'm pretty clued up on what works and what looks good.

And finally, asking for features or begging just encourages me to ignore you and your puzzles. Same goes for QM and quizzes. If your content is good enough then it will be show for itself.

Also note, I am only showing 1 puzzle a day on the front page, which means I have to be quite selective in what I feature!

I think at some point there will be a nominate button for word searches, but they are too recent for it, cause people can just spam and climb the leaderboard, I’m sure there will be a leaderboard at some point.

Stewart said there will never be nominations for word searches, but an eventual leaderboard.
