How to be motivated to learn
Over the past 5-6 months I have been learning loads of geography things on Jetpunk, even managing to memorize all first level subdivisions of North America. However, recently I have been struggling to be motivated to continue learning and I was wondering if you guys have any tips for being motivated.
My tip would be to aim for higher levels like 65/70, which would require you to do way more quizzes about similar topics.
Another time I met a Nigerian, who was happily surprised when I managed to guess which state he was from.
Now in my workplace, I'm often finding myself drawing upon completely random scraps of knowledge that help me connect with something my client is telling me. A genuinely interesting conversation will ensue and both parties are enriched.
Knowledge is a quest unto itself. It connects us to the world and to others in it. It allows us to contribute to other people's happiness. It even helps us to alleviate some of our own sadness at times.
Motivation will come and go. What you have already learned in life is a triumph. There is no pressure to push yourself beyond any limits. If you decide it's time to deepen your knowledge, the world will be all the better for it. But slowing down can be healthy, too :)
