How to delete a comment without blocking the user?

If I recall correctly, it used to be possible to delete a comment on your content (quizzes, blogs, etc) without blocking the user. But now it seems that there's no way to do that without blocking the commenter (which irreversibly disables that user's ability to comment on any of your content).

Sometimes we don't want to block the user from commenting altogether, we simply want to get rid of a comment we don't like.

Is there still a way to delete a comment without blocking the commenter?

I think that reporting it may cause it to be deleted if it's really bad

I mean, free speech. If it's hate speech or something then just report them. But if you simply don't like what said user is saying, then ignore them. But no, you can't delete another user's comment.

That makes sense, but what exactly made them remove the "delete comment" feature? I can clearly recall that I used it on one of my blogs a few years ago to get rid of some unrelated / spam comments.

Maybe you deleted your own comment that spammers had replied to?

No way, I recall very clearly that I deleted someone else's comment.

According to this blog, it used to be possible to straight up delete comments on your blogs:

"Blog owners can now delete comments on their blogs. If you write a blog, and somebody spams nonsense on it, you can now delete those yourself without having to report them."

But now, that no longer seems possible.

Oh, it isn't.

I didn't notice??? I had a comment that was probably deleted in someone's blog, because it isn't the type that deserves reporting, but what I said might have made the blog make feel bad.

Ever since, I haven't been able to comment on any of that person's content.

It always says 'this comment is pending moderation' and stuff like that, and never shows up.
