* Seasonal or Themed Events: Special quizzes during holidays (Valentine's Day, Xmas) or events (Independence Day) with exclusive rewards.
* In-Quiz Power-Ups: Options like “50/50,” “skip question,” for Multiple-choice quizzes
* More granular leaderboards, e.g., by country / by city
* Adaptive Quizzes: Questions adapt in difficulty based on the user’s performance.
In my opinion, the Seasonal events and Leaderboards sound really fun, but the other ones are slightly out of my interest. After all this is a trivia website, and so you should be here to do trivia, not try to “win”.
My idea: what if there was some sort of (100% optional) way to go more head to head with other users? I know there is the friend leaderboard on the daily trivia, but something more could be fun.
I would love themed events (or at least some decorations on the top bar). Leaderboards I would want most, for points, quiz takes, daily leaderboards, by region, etc.
I think this would be a good way to generally boost quiz takes on the website.
It'd be interesting to see if this effect holds true.
The interest of the JetPunk community in such rankings has been proven in this blog by MasterRocket.
If these types of rankings are ever created, it might be useful to be able to choose whether or not to appear in them - similar to social features that can be enabled or disabled in user account settings.
as for the power ups, it wouldnt make much sense since this isnt really a tv game show thing
We're still maintaining loads of features that few people ever use. Every new feature adds to the complexity of changing anything else on the site. I know it might not feel that way to a non-technical person, but that's how it works.
One thing about leaderboards. We tried leaderboards on the daily quiz when it first launched. It was instantly full of cheaters. Some people just can't help themselves, they really can't.
Or if you go over a milestone number of takes, say 25k, 50k, etc.
