Before QM took action on the Message Board, it was a social hotspot that was unwelcoming to new and old users alike. However now it appears to me that it has flipped to simply being an alternative to the Recent User Created, with every other post being an advertisement. I won’t say that it’s better or worse than what it was before, but I don’t think that it’s what the Message Board is intended for.
Edit: I don’t want to say that advertising is 100% bad, but if it’s quizzes you made in 5 minutes or if you’re just advertising every quiz you put out, I personally would refrain from advertising.
There will never be such a thing as an "ideal" message board
All I’m saying is that it’s not called the Advertisement Board.
I am just stating the fact that with no actual threads, mostly ads will stand out. Before the purge, threads were more and ads were less. But, to get into your perspective, what would your ideal board be?
And thinking about it, QM featuring an advertised quiz can only make matters worse with more effortless threads about effortless quizzes (no disrespect, Lexiconic's quizzes in particular are high quality)
I think that an ideal message board would revolve around there being a welcoming community constantly giving feedback and prompting fun conversations while still keeping JetPunk’s professional vibe (something the pre-purge MB failed to do)
Unfortunately, the pre-purge mb failed because of being too friendly indeed. I am sure that if a proper guideline was given, things would have turned out differently, with more users helping in a more productive message board...
It is what it is, though, and we can't change that. Even "On This Day" by Syrext was forced to stop, so now the message board has completely become a blank canvas
I didn’t really use the message board back then but they spammed multiple posts a day, talked about things completely unrelated to JetPunk, posted stuff about their personal lives… like what else was going to happen?
Even QM posted non-JetPunk-related stuff on the message board before the Cleansing, so that was apparently fine. But again I'm saying if you're going to have people freely talk to each other, give them rules to follow. No rules, nothing to follow but your common sense and what you think is ok.
I also don't see the point in advertising, but if it promotes the people who make quizzes to keep making quizzes, then it seems like it's a benefit. Gotta have quizzes on your quiz site. Maybe 1 a week per user, or just leave it to blogs. IDK, it's not my culture.
