I think you are confused, it's not becoming independent, just gaining more autonomy, at least that's what is says here.

Yeah but that means close to nothing, Bougainville had one but there are no developments and Catalonia also had one but yet again, nothing happened.

Catalonia could also become independent but I don't know. Quebec, Donetzsk and Luhansk also maybe. Somaliland and east turkestan also want independence, no?

New Caledonia is in Oceania which (I think) is the least featured continent on quizzes, so it wouldn't affect as many as you think

Can't see NC becoming a country in upcoming 10 years and it's most closest area with independence chance.

Even in Scotland, Catalonia and Somaliland despite popular support can't see happening unless something major happens.
