I'm big on sci-fi and historical movies, but action, thriller and horror are also fine.

Thanks for the recommendations!

The Fly is great. Another really good one with Jeff Goldblum is Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

"Monuments Men" is a good war-time drama set in WW2 as is "The Book Thief"

Green Room (very violent and tense), The Conversation (1970s), The China Syndrome, Pig, Top Secret! (goofy comedy)

Some non-English movies are: Dead Snow, Trollhunter, City of God, Burning (2018), Let the Right One In, The Wailing, The Exterminating Angel (Avante Garde-ish), Kung Fu Hustle (one of my favourite comedies ever), Lady Snowblood (inspiration for Kill Bill)

Why so? I liked it. It got good reviews. It had Academy Award nominations.

Isn't it just anti-nuclear energy propaganda?

I wouldn’t go that far. It’s more about how tightly it needs to be regulated, I’d say.

Hmm, starring Michael Douglas & Jane Fonda

"Born to a Jewish father... Douglas has received notice for his humanitarian and political activism. He sits on the board of the Nuclear Threat Initiative, is an honorary board member of the anti-war grant-making foundation Ploughshares Fund and he was appointed as a United Nations Messenger of Peace in 1998"

-also the producer

"Jane Seymour Fonda is an American actress and activist. ... Fonda was a political activist in the counterculture era during the Vietnam War. She was photographed sitting on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun on a 1972 visit to Hanoi, during which she gained the nickname "Hanoi Jane"

Oh. Jane Fonda has her own PAC. The Jane Fonda Climate PAC.

2022- "No, they took the right message (re: nuclear is too dangerous to pursure). This is dangerous stuff. It is dangerous stuff. We’ve seen that in Japan, we’ve seen that in Russia. ... there’s the problem of water. In the case of Diablo Canyon, it’s marine water. It’s the ocean. It kills marine life around there."

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Truly a mystery, who's to judge?

One recent one that came out that I remember really enjoying in theaters but I didn't know much going into it because there were like no advertisements for it and I heard no one talking about in general is Vengeance (2022)

There is this movie I watched a few days ago, it's called Sully, and it's based on a true story. It was really good.

If that's the one about the pilot that landed in the Hudson, it's a great movie.

Quirky comedy: O brother, where art thou? (The only time I didn’t mind country music :))

Classic but not famous: The Man of La Mancha.

And- City of God, How Green was my valley, and Brother Sun and Sister Moon, by Franco Zeffirelli. Some of these are for when you are recovering from something cuz they are slow moving, but definitely worth a watch.

I see you like sci-fi(as do I). I have a really good hidden gem. Not a movie but a tv show.

Taken (2002)

Directed by Steven Spielberg

You can watch the entire show on YouTube here. It's just one season(20 hours)
