Big day for the Space Race!

I wonder if it was a coincidence that the Shuttle was launched exactly 20 years after Gagarin shot to fame.

According to Google and Wikipedia it was a coincidence. The shuttle was supposed to take off on the 10th but was delayed by two days due to a technical problem.
