OPEC

The UAE has officially left OPEC on May 1, 2026! They left OPEC so they can greater control of their oil production, line up with their long term interests, and respond independently to market and geopolitical issues. OPEC is down to 11 members currently.

It's possible OPEC doesn't survive the decade.

They're less relevant then ever and they all cheat on their quotas anyway.

The countries on the list also tend to be extremely corrupt and low-functioning. Would anyone really want to join this group? I could see Saudi Arabia leaving next and then the whole thing is over.

I think the next country to leave OPEC will most likely be either Kuwait or Iraq who are unhappy about Saudi Arabia led quotas.

Also why hasn't the OPEC quiz updated for Angola's departure in 2024?
