Option to choose comment load volume?

So we all know that comments from 0-100 will load by default, and then you can press “load moe comments” and it will load 0-500 of the most recent comments. Any comment over 500 won’t load, but it’s clearly cached somewhere because if some of the comments within the 500 are deleted, some of the formerly over-500 comments will become visible again.

I’m assuming this is for optimization reasons, to prevent hundreds of comments from being slow to load.

But what if we had an option in our account settings or whatever where we can just choose how many comments we want to load by default? Because I’d like to be able to see further back than 500, I don’t mind the site loading slightly slower (on some of my devices JetPunk uses so much browser memory that it doesn’t load very fast anyway). It would help with group comments (in particular, doing the fact selections for the IFG) and just viewing old conversations on long-running popular quizzes.
