Pinned Threads Idea

Prepare for a strongly worded letter.

The idea of Pinning certain Message Board thread posts to the top of the Message Board is my topic here, and would serve the main function of reminding users of how to properly and efficiently do certain things on the site, like:

- Advertise their content on the MB here

- Create good quizzes (many people would like an easy guide for this from another user/quizmaker)

- Properly and officially raise concern and/or speak about a subject in general

There are many uses for Pinning certain threads. Amazing threads like this thread from Dimby would be perfect to Pin to the top of the MB page for all other users to notice, read, and take in the useful information from a user who knows what they're talking about.

It would most likely have to be monitored by an admin, probably Quizmaster, which is one reason why this is likely not to happen. Pinning might also hurt peoples' feelings, but I don't see the difference between Pinning in this case and Featuring a quiz.

However, the main problem I could envision is people always trying to get their message Pinned by "spamming" or constantly writing in hopes of obtaining popularity on the MB. This problem seems trivial to me, since users making threads about beneficial topics seems like a win, as most people do not do this. Of course, it is hard to monitor such a huge community page like this, but the idea is here.

There used to be many useful Message Board threads about such beneficial topics, but were deleted, unfortunately. However, I would love if more threads existed like Dimby's above, and would love if they were Pinned to the top of the MB so everybody could be reminded of useful information.

Users need to know the good ways to make an MB thread or make a blog, for example. It is easy to find blogs on useful information, but not the same for MB threads, which I don't like very much. The MB has the potential to have so much easily accessible information, and it somewhat is, but you have to shuffle through pages to find anything at all...

A search bar could be fine, but that's a stretch. I know the site is not centered around the Message Board, and I think Quizmaster said the site loses money off of this, but even still, this feature is meant to be a place where users can ask questions to the community about whatever they want. A search bar, or better, Pinned threads, would allow for said users to open the Message Board and potentially find useful information about what they need without surfing through the entire MB or commenting at all.

Again, just an idea, one which I think has been offered before. What do y'all think?
