I don’t think it was an OD. It was likely a suicide given the extreme stress he was under because of baseless cheating accusations made against him. This is what I’ve gathered from following this story, anyway.
I blame Kramnik for his death, who is a bully and FIDE for sweeping this under the carpet.
Kramnik also accused David Navara of cheating in online games without credible proof. No wonder Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, and Nihal Sarin have condemned Kramnik’s actions, calling them harassment.
Absolutely Kramnik holds a lot of blame, but don't believe everyone has gone about it the right way. Hikaru for example, opened his mouth too much and started blaming certain people for not calling Kramnik out enough/supporting Danya more vocally. Plus, we should be grieving someone, not playing the blame game.
Yeah, Kramnik is always making baseless accusations without any proof whatsoever. Idek why he says such terrible things. Probably trying to stay relevant in the chess world 🙄
I had a teacher who led chess club at my school that said he thinks it might have been an accidental drug overdose or something...
RIP.
