It would be a simple spaced repetition app where you spend 10-15 minutes a day, and within a couple years, you'd know more words than 99% of the population.
But I'm wondering, would you pay $5/month for an app like this?
Do any JetPunk users pay for test prep?
The crazy thing is that it actually makes sense to spend a TON of money on SAT test prep.
Why?
Because good schools have good financial aid. And bad schools don't. The people who get stuck with debt they can't pay are the ones who go to some random liberal arts college. Spending $10k to improve your SAT by 200 points is probably worth it in financial aid alone.
Sure, community college is cheap.
But there are tons of bad private schools that charge nearly as much as Harvard and don't have offsetting financial aid.
If your parents are middle class or below, you will generally pay very little tuition when attending an elite institution.
I would be more likely to buy if it was somewhat similar to Duolingo, or at least with the gamification features. A simple game (even just adding a sudden death game, for example) would go a long way in me using it more
But it does sound interesting
But I’m not sure whether you’ll be able to sell many people on $5/month just with vocab alone. You’d probably want more things like practice quantitative problems for the GRE or practice whatever problems on the SAT (I forget).
Anyway, another idea I had is that with how much international attraction you get on JetPunk, maybe it wouldn’t hurt to add the TOEFL into the mix. I know tons of international students that have gotten somewhat set back in their graduate studies because of a poor TOEFL score. It probably wouldn’t entail too much more than just listing it as one of your advertised exams.
I know this isn’t what you were looking for in your post, but hopefully this is at least somewhat insightful.
But i would maybe use the limited free version if there is one
