Weird geopolitical entities

Submitted by FreeStater on October 5, 2025
Seeing as this is a geography-focused website, what are some weird, obscure geopolitical entities y'all know about? I'll start:

Spain and France share an island, but the ownership changes every 6 months. In English it is known as Pheasant Island. You can read more about it in one of my blogs.

Hans Island which, controversially, makes a border between Canada and Greenland (Denmark). Someone needs to build a canal through it

I hadn't heard of Carriacou and Petite Martinique; a good fact there.

This made me think of Bir Tawil, the area which Egypt and Sudan both reject ownership of.
