gotta agree there. Cheers and Seinfeld are close runners-up. best thing about Frasier is that it was probably the most successful spinoff show in TV history, i've never seen a spinoff that was as funny or even funnier than the original show.
also this is kind of a hot take but i have never laughed at an episode of Friends. i don't think Friends is funny at all.
I hesitate to say GoT is the best show just because the ending was so rushed and universally panned, which is really bad for that kind of show since it's all building up towards that final episode and kind of ruins all the previous episodes (as opposed to a show like How I Met Your Mother which is mostly made of self-contained stories that stand on their own even with a bad series finale). My pick for best show would probably be Breaking Bad like everyone else, though I'm also partial to Community (although the quality does vary alot more with that show)
honestly… rick and morty is such a good watch, some of the best writing on any TV show i’ve ever watched. also south park maybe, even though it’s gone kinda “Simpsonsey” you have to respect Matt and Trey’s ability to stay incredibly current and crank out decently funny episodes every week for decades on end. aside from being amazingly well-written and having a really high ratio of hilarious-to-unlikable characters, the office really pioneered that mockumentary style that kind of defined mainstream sitcom TV for a little while. for kid’s cartoons, Gravity Falls and Phineas and Ferb are my top picks, and Craig of the Creek is top 3 as well. TAWOG is top 5. i cannot express how much i love those shows
edit: totally forgot breaking bad but for live action TV it’s probably top 2
The problem here is whatever anyone says is their opinion. I absolutely cannot watch South Park, yet others think it is the GOAT. I've been watching TV since the 1960's and even then there were re-runs from the '50's.
Shows like the Beverly Hillbillies and Lassie were great in their day.
In my humble opinion shows like Tulsa King, Breaking Bad etc are brilliant, I also enjoyed NCIS in the first 7 or 8 seasons, but it kind of lost it's way after that.
Unfortunately, whenever a series is popular, TV companies tend to flog a show to death just to make an extra buck. The last seasons of many popular series aren't as good, and some spin-offs are truly awful. (I'm looking at you Joey from Friends!)
I have to say, South Park does have some episodes with wide appeal to almost anyone. My mother, when she was in her fifties, watched an episode that had her gut laughing for 20 straight minutes. It was the episode where Cartman thinks he’s a ghost, and she had never seen the show and was vaguely aware of Cartman’s character. Their writing is sometimes like Curb Your Enthusiasm.
I've not seen very many shows (including some of the favorites, Breaking Bad, GOT, South Park, The Office etc.)
I also agree with toowise^ that networks like to drive their shows into the ground so usually the last couple of seasons are way worse than the first few. An example is the 2014 The Flash show. The first 3 seasons are great! Seasons 4-9 are terrible though. They get worse as it goes on. Between 4-9 there are probably about 6 or 7 really good episodes, maybe less.
I really like This is Us (a show which was not drove into the ground) and has 6 seasons (which were seemingly all planned from the beginning).
But my absolute favorite (which is also a Bryan Cranston-starring) show is Malcolm in the Middle. Peak comedy, and all 7 seasons are hilarious. No season is better or worse than the others. Also, I'm really excited about the reunion miniseries coming next year :)
Both excellent series, House is such a dry humour, you should check out some of Hugh Laurie's early stuff, hilarious especially Blackadder or Jeeves and Wooster.
Gotta agree with breaking bad/bcs. Regular Show and King of the Hill are up there.
Mission Hill is also a complete hidden gem, Common Side Effects is one I’ve been getting into lately
My problem with shows like south park, doctor who and the amazing world of gumball, and even several animes I’ve watched is that when they’re good, they’re REALLY good, but their quality is inconsistent. The few times tawog gets bad, it’s straight up unwatchable.
Curb your enthusiasm is good but suffers from the opposite problem. There’s really only one episode of curb since it’s so formulaic, but I always die laughing whenever I watch it.
A guilty pleasure of mine is 2 1/2 men. It’s definitely bottom of the barrel, and chuck lorre shows are everything I hate about sitcoms, but some of the back and forth insults are straight-up hilarious. It would be on in the break room at work and would just tickle me pink.
Oh jeez, Mission Hill is a blast from the past. I think they only got one season, but I remember finding it pretty funny at the time. Hmm... I remember "move along, water balloon" and "it takes all kinds to make fruit salad" or something like that.

IMO, Game of Thrones is the GOAT of TV shows.
Some honorable mentions include: Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Walking Dead, etc.

For modern TV shows, Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are both on my top 5.
As for animated series, Batman TAS is my #1. Definitely.

No, I think my favorite is Andor.
I tried Murder Drones once, but it was a little confusing and I never really got that hooked on
