Mine is definitely Spider Man-Across the Spider Verse because its a masterpiece, but there is definitely a case to be made for some of those early Disney/pixar movies because they are also great.
My favorite is Cars cause I grew up with it but best? I'll have to go with a ghibli film, it's between Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke, and I don't think I can pick between the 2.
I enjoy watching animated movies a lot, they are such a brilliant genre to convey a movie. Some of my favorite include:
Memoir of a Snail (2024), it is an aussie movie about a woman learning to be herself, to gain a confidence she aspires to have. It deals with rather dark themes at times and the way it does that is wonderful. The story telling, the clay animation, everything is of the utmost quality. I was able to attach to the characters and it left a lasting impact on me.
Flee (2021), a danish animated documentary movie. It centers around the life story of an afghani refugee, how he escaped the war torn country during the soviet-aghan war period. How he had to go through so many unfathomable experiences, especially at such a young age. How he battled through his sexuality during that grim phase in life. I think everyone needs to give this movie a watch atleast once. Plus the rather unique animation style works in its favor.
I totally agree with you. Both Spider-Verse are tied as #1 for me. Besides that though I would go with Fantastic Mr. Fox or Up. But there's also Ratatouille, Beauty and the Beast, Hunchback of Notre Dame and whole lot of others as well. :)
