What skills has JetPunk helped you with the most?

Submitted by TheHelloWorld on May 31, 2025
Despite the main purpose of taking quizzes on JetPunk to be purely fun and entertaining, I think there are some transferrable skills which it secretly helps train.

Memory recall is a key one I think - by whittling off names of countries and random facts as quickly as you can before the time runs out, under the hood perhaps this is making your brain operate faster and more clearly, which naturally has applications elsewhere in life.

What other skills have you all, perhaps unknowingly, got better at because of this site?

P.S. I'm going to sneak in an advertisement here for my latest quiz, which could truly test your memory :) : Annoyingly difficult countries and capitals quiz - name all countries and capitals without the letters s/t/a/n in. It's harder than you think!

Without a doubt digital 'drawing'. Learning SVG was one of the best decisions I've made in my life. I manage to utilise SVGs in certain tasks by using them as a substitute for images (ex: thumbnails). Of course, they have their use outside of JetPunk, in which they can add a bit of personality to your work.

Nice thread!

Spelling and grammar, although I am not perfect by any means, I have improved over the years I have been here.

And my typing speed has improved as well.

I make blogs mainly to keep my brain active in my advancing years so I suppose that is an advantage too.

I can spell Kyrgyzstan without thinking now!

You're not really supposed to. My quizzes use a special container that prevents most abuses of script and passes security measures. I think. I dunno, I have gotten away with it, I guess!

Typing. Most of the other skills I’m sure I would’ve acquired just by being on the internet and generally interested in learning but jetpunk is solely responsible for the 110wpm typing speed

Indulging in a relatively safe addiction, learning new stuff, learning a bit of humility cuz there are so many people sharper and smarter and brighter than I am, getting some good shots of dopamine…

And seeing people here who’ve written entire learned essays for example on weird geographical boundaries that frustrate them and I find this so relatable and don’t feel weird, and Zo can’t talk about this with people I know irl. So.. I’ve found my tribe in some ways. 😅
