What's The Most Rewarding Thing You Have Ever Done
I'll go first. I went to Yellowstone National Park and saw all the sights which was cool, but after that was the best part. We went on a 3 day backpacking trip through the Grand Tetons. We hiked about 40 km (25 mi) . It might not sound fun to some, but I will never forget it. The scenery was obviously amazing, and there was just something so special about challenging myself. I had a 5 kg or 11 lb backpack on my back. (I weighed 27 kg or 60 lbs so it was actually really hard,) getting lost and walking 5 extra miles on day one, feeling like jelly and finally getting to camp after walking at a 45 degree angle for half a mile, eating freeze dried meals with hot water mixed in in the rain, crying in the middle of the night because my blowup mattress broke. Even through all of that, I spent all of those struggles with my friends and family. It was the hardest thing I have ever done, but it was also the most rewarding and beautiful journey I have ever been blessed to be on. (Lowkey yapping so i'll end it soon) I will never forget the feeling of sprinting to the parking lot at the very end even though my entire body felt like it was bruised.
We had to be evacuated from the mountain range we were on because it was going to snow and we would be stuck there with no food and heat-source, and ended up in an ordinary campsite in the end.
But the hikes and the views were amazing. Our backpacks weighed more than 10kg each, I think.
Also apparently a murderer (Dezi Freeman or someone, if you were wondering) was found by police near where we were hiking and staying a day or so after we finished camp, but let's ignore that...
Almost.
Camping and trekking all over New Zealand, in a different place every day and every night, was also deeply awe-inspiring!!
So on the trip you weighed nearly 20 % backpack!
This was just after the end of the Ceaușescu era, some of the sights bring tears to my eyes even now. The look of thankfulness on the faces of the staff and children of the orphanages will haunt me to my dying day.
