Wait until you witness Chicago or New York traffic.
And that’s only scraping the surface. I unfortunately didn’t end up getting to witness it this summer, but from what I’ve heard most Indian traffic puts any US traffic to shame.
i like how people from everywhere across the US complain about traffic all the time yet the majority of americans still don’t recognize the need for good public transit, walkable neighborhoods, and quality intercity rail service
the only solution to traffic is reducing the number of cars on a road at any and all given times by providing quality viable alternatives to driving
Have really loved Salt Lake City every time I’ve gone. Super clean, everyone there is incredibly friendly and kind, and I love the architecture and history.
San Francisco has also been fantastic every time I’ve been, although I’m usually stressed out and mentally exhausted by the time I’m leaving just from the sheer number of things going on
as someone who lives in the SLC metro, downtown is one of the cleanest and nicest downtowns i’ve ever been to. however, what it has in cleanliness it lacks in things to do. there’s city creek mall, the gateway mall (which is dead) and that’s basically it. also, it feels like you’re in the downtown of a major city, but Salt Lake city proper is only a few hundred thousand people, so downtown feels weirdly empty.
Tokyo, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City, Hong Kong, Xi'an
Generally liked all of them.
I visited NYC back in 2018 and stayed there for two days. On the first day we went to the Empire State Building but the weather was terrible, almost no one was in there and we didn't get to see anything good. On the second day, the weather was mostly still bad but it suddenly got better just before nightfall, creating THE perfect condition for us to get into the building again and enjoy the breathtaking views of the city at night. Luck was really on my side that time.
Nothing particularly interesting happened with the other cities.
Also visited other cities than the ones listed here, but they don't fit the criteria (only once).
Also, Namche Bazaar and Pokhara in Nepal, Punakha in Bhutan, basically every city and town in NZ, Penang in Malaysia, Abu Dhabi in the UAE, Singapore, Grindelwald, Geneva, Lausanne, Nyon and Vevey in Switzerland, Bournemouth, Swanage and London in the UK, Aonang and Bangkok ,Thailand. And Paris.
After a family holiday there, my mother always wanted to retire to a bungalow in Swanage, that was her dream for her twilight years. Sadly she passed away early at 56, and never accomplished it. My father and I scattered her ashes near the war memorial at Swanage a few months after her passing.
Sorry to bring the tone down, just the mention of Swanage brought back memories.
